Elephant Tags

Company logo

Whether a phone is lost, stolen, out of battery, or simply unavailable, Elephant Tags make sure important contact numbers are always within reach. Sew or pin them into clothing, jackets or bags for complete peace of mind away from home.

Simple fabric labels with the phone numbers you need most. Always there when your phone isn’t.

Why Elephant Tags?

We rely on our phones for everything, including remembering the numbers of the people we love. But what happens when our phones aren't available?

Elephant tags provide a permanent, discreet reminder of important telephone numbers, stitched or pinned directly into clothing. They don’t need charging, updating, or an internet connection. They’re simply there when they’re needed.

Emergency contact numbers on labels

When technology fails, a simple label can make all the difference.

Who are they for?

Families with

young children

Children can wander away in busy places. An Elephant Tag secured in their clothing gives a trusted adult an easy way to contact you if your child becomes separated.

Teenagers

If your teenager loses their phone, has it stolen, or the battery goes flat, they may not remember any family phone numbers. An Elephant Tag means they always have a way to contact home.

Vulnerable young people & adults

For people with additional needs, or those living with dementia, remembering contact details can become difficult. Having family telephone numbers clearly available inside everyday clothing can help carers, members of the public, or emergency services reconnect them with loved ones more quickly.

Our story

About Us

Elephant Tags began with a simple conversation with a close friend.

She realised that if her phone was lost or ran out of battery, she wouldn’t remember her husband’s or teenage children’s phone numbers—and doubted they’d know hers either.

It struck a chord with me. During a spell of extremely hot weather, I’d noticed my own phone battery draining much faster than usual, and I realised I couldn’t remember my children’s numbers either. I’d taught them my number when they were younger, but had no idea if they still remembered it.

Like parents everywhere, I worry about my children when they’re away from home, particularly at a time when phone theft is increasingly common. But I also realised how vulnerable I’d feel if my own phone was stolen, or simply unavailable. Without it, I’d have no easy way to contact my children or family in an emergency.

I made a passing comment about needing little tags with important phone numbers on them—just in case. That simple idea grew into something much bigger over the days and weeks that followed.

The more I thought about it, the more I realised how useful these little tags could be for almost anyone, regardless of age or how vulnerable they might consider themselves. They offer a small but reassuring safety net in a world where we’ve become so dependent on our phones.

And so, Elephant Tags was born.

The name came naturally: elephants are known for never forgetting. The idea carries through into the logo design, with a playful twist on the idea of a knotted tail instead of the traditional knotted trunk. With a background in art, I've always been interested in design, so developing the tags and their visual identity was a natural part of bringing the idea to life. I also wanted to make more considered, eco-friendly choices where I could, including appealing, plastic-free packaging, while keeping the product affordable.

What started as a passing thought has become a business I truly believe in. I’m incredibly proud of the little acorn of an idea that has grown into Elephant Tags, and excited about where it can go next.

questions

How should I attach my labels?

Elephant Tags can be pinned or sewn into clothing, coats and bags. We don't recommend using iron-on webbing tape as our labels won't withstand the high iron settings required to bond the materials. Elephant Tags come with safety pins as standard, but you can add a small sewing kit to your order if you prefer to sew your labels in. We recommend pinning labels into outer clothing, such as coats, but our labels are soft enough to wear on normal clothing too. We supply Prym safety pins (pretty much the best out there) to securely fasten Elephant Tags to standard clothing care labels. Pinning them also makes them transferrable from garment to garment, and you’ll need less labels. If you prefer to stitch them in, they can be sewn onto clothing care labels, or directly onto garment material. Lots of our customers pin one into their bag linings too.

Are Elephant Tags washable?

Yes, Elephant Tags can be washed at 30 degrees. They shouldn’t go in a tumble dryer, and we recommend a cool iron if required. They are not suitable for dry cleaning, and should not be put in a wash with bleach. We specifically supply brass Prym safety pins, which are rust-proof, meaning you don’t have to worry about the pins going through the wash.

Will everyone see my telephone numbers?

No. Elephant Tags are designed to be sewn or pinned inside clothing, making them discreet while remaining easy to find if needed. If you don't want names to be visible, you could use an initial, or number your contacts from 1 to 4.

Can I choose which numbers appear?

Yes. Each tag can be personalised with the telephone numbers that matter most to you.

How many numbers can I add?

Each label includes up to 4 names and 4 numbers (8 lines in total).

Is there a character limit for names and numbers?

Names and numbers should not exceed 12 characters per line.

Who are they suitable for?

Children, teenagers, adults, older people, people living with dementia, travellers, vulnerable young people and adults, students, and anyone who wants a reliable backup when a mobile phone isn’t available.

Can I order multiple packs?

Yes. Our Mix & Match option is perfect for families and groups who need multiple sets of numbers. Organisations and groups wishing to purchase bulk orders are advised to contact us to discuss requirements.
